Description:
Trehalose is a naturally occurring non-reducing disaccharide produced from tapioca starch by Hayashibara Co., Ltd. (Japan), a member of the Nagase Group. Supplied in non-API (Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient) grade, it achieves a minimum assay of 98.0% and is characterized by exceptional chemical stability, low hygroscopicity, and outstanding bioprotective properties. Trehalose is widely recognized for its ability to protect biological molecules — including proteins, enzymes, and cell membranes — against denaturation caused by drying, freezing, and thermal stress. It is authorized for use as a novel food ingredient in the EU under Commission Decision 2001/721/CE and is compliant with AJI92 quality standards. The product is free from GMOs, gluten, BSE/TSE risk, and allergens.
